BACK of the main boulevard in Hollywood, amidst shade trees stands a
large rambling house. It is home to many girls who work in motion pictures
as extras. The Studio Club was organized and sponsored by girls who started
as extras and finally become stars, and realizing that other extra girls
have to put up with the same hardships as themselves they established this
home for them.
In the club is a lovely lobby where they can entertain with dances or
plays. The girls live there as they would in their own home. There they
may have a nice room at very low rent and board there, too, if they choose.
There is a chaperone in charge that mothers the girls who are trying
to make a career for themselves on the screen. No girl can make the Studio
Club her home unless she has the best of references and a high moral standing.
Among the motion-picture actresses whose interests are with the club are
Mary Pickford, Helen Ferguson, Lois Wilson and many others. |
